There's a reason being called a perfectionist is often meant as a subtle insult. Procrastinating completing, or even beginning a task, just for the sake of perfection means you're actually getting less accomplished than the person who just puts their head down and gets it done, even if it's not perfect. Postponing in the name of perfection can easily turn into holding off and planning or tweaking indefinitely.

I have to admit that I am totally guilty of procrastinating because I want something to be great, as close to perfect as possible. I often find myself researching, reading, and learning in order to prepare for a project that I never actually get to the most important part, starting it! That has certainly been the case with this blog. As someone with a full-time job and multiple side hustles, I am always busy, that is never going to change and that's the way I like it. But, there are plenty of times where I come up with a new project but seem to never get it off the ground because I am too busy preparing for it. So, at the beginning of 2017 I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't continue to postpone this project in the name of perfection, that I would just jump right in!

For anyone who likes to learn about entrepreneurship and side hustles, this phenomenon is probably not new, we see and hear about it all the time in blog posts, articles, and on podcasts. The best thing to do for a new project is to just jump right in and get started right now! The sooner you start the closer you will be to reaching your goals. Don't wait until tomorrow or next week as you try to prepare, because that can quickly result in not starting until next year or worse, never beginning at all.

You can always tweak and improve along the way, little by little. But there will be nothing to improve if you don't get over it and get started.
