How to get more freedom and flexibility from your business
When I started my business I knew I wanted more freedom and flexibility. But, what I’ve realized is that I don’t want freedom when it comes to time spent working on my business, I actually just want more freedom and flexibility with my time outside of the business. By scheduling and managing my time, I can give myself the additional freedom I crave while spending only the minimum amount of time working.
By prioritizing your tasks and scheduling your time, you can give yourself so much more flexibility to do the things you want — like spend time with your friends & family or take Fridays off!
Let’s talk about some ways you can structure your day to help you get more time.
Time Blocking
Time blocking is a great way to get a handle on your time. I know it can feel too rigid for some people, but it really does help you manage your day more efficiently and allows you to get more done in less time.
With time blocking, you can estimate how long a task is going to take to finish and slot it into your calendar to complete at a point in your day that makes sense.
Time blocking also helps you batch your tasks so that you’re not wasting time by context switching between multiple tasks. You block your time, batch tasks within that block to get them done faster, and then you can move on to what’s next or finish early!
Time Tracking
Another way to better manage your time is by time tracking. Time tracking gives you more insight into how you’re actually spending your time, so you can make decisions that give you more freedom and flexibility.
If you want to work less, how can you plan to do that if you don’t actually know how much you’re working and how much time you’re spending on specific tasks? By tracking your time, you can easily identify things you’re spending too much of your time on. Then you can figure out how to automate those tasks or if you can outsource them… which gets you even more time back!
Task Management Systems
You should also be prioritizing your work with a task management system like ClickUp. As soon as something pops into your head, it should go straight into your task management system. That way, everything lives in one place and you don’t have to worry about forgetting things. By consistently using a task management system, you can feel confident that everything is there, and it frees up space in your brain to think about the actual work you’re doing, rather than your to-do list!
Once you have everything organized into Clickup — you can look at everything in one place at the beginning of the day or week and decide how to prioritize your tasks based on when things need to be completed, then set up your time blocks accordingly.
This is all about working smarter, not harder. And working faster, not longer!
