I Took My Side Hustle Full-Time
After over five years of working in the evenings and on the weekends, I finally took my side hustle full-time! Going full-time with my hustle has been a dream and a goal of mine for over three years. I’ve worked hard and made some sacrifices for the sake of my business over the years and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. We also made some sacrifices in order to make this huge change happen. My husband and I lived in New York City for the past four years and we’ve both loved every minute of it. However, we both agreed that in order to leave my full-time job as a marketing manager for a local business, we would need to say goodbye to our beloved NYC to live somewhere more affordable. I didn’t want the start of my self-employment journey to be filled with stress and anxiety about being able to make enough money right away. While I have built up consistent income from my side hustle over the years, it was not equal to my salary. We both knew there would be some ramping up time once I was self-employed.
So, we left New York to start a new adventure. Now, I’m focused on building my business and diversifying my income while we live that Millennial life fo’ free at our parents for a few months and then… we hit the road! Neither of us was quite ready to settle down and buy a house. Instead, we decided to buy a camper and travel the country for a couple of years. We plan on being digital nomads, working and making our way throughout the country. The hubs will work remotely for his NY-based company and I will continue to run my business. We are so excited about the experiences ahead and we know how lucky we are to have this opportunity. We know this is an alternative lifestyle but luckily, all of our friends and family have been extremely supportive!
Until we head out on the open road, I’ll be focusing on my business and getting adjusted to self-employment. I’ll share more on my new goals now that my hustle is full-time and my experiences being self-employed so be sure to follow along!
