The 3 things you need to grow your business this year

In this episode of the No Fluff - Small Business Simplified podcast I’m covering the most important things you NEED in order to grow your business this year. We all know 2020 was a weird year and whether you started a new business, pivoted your business, or saw massive growth, I know many of us are looking ahead and thinking about what we’d like to accomplish in 2021.

Doing the below is going to set you up for success this year and for many years to come:

  • Use a task management system! I love ClickUp and I talk about it often. But there’s plenty of other task and project management systems out there that will also work. And the best part is, most of them have a free tier. Don’t @ me paper planner people…you need to be using a task management system in order to efficiently scale your business.

  • You need identify where you can set up workflows and automations in your business. There are so many things you or your team are doing that could be automated that will save you both time and money. I love Dubsado for sending contracts, invoices, and questionnaires. I also use Acuity to automate scheduling meetings which has been a huge time saver for me in 2020. You also need to document everything you’re doing so that you can set up systems, processes, and templates. This is KEY to being able to grow your business without losing your mind. If it’s something you do more than once or you could see yourself outsourcing in the future, then it needs to have a documented process and templates. I keep it simple and use Google Drive for this.

  • If you’re not already tracking your time, start immediately. Toggl is a great and free time tracking tool. Tracking your time allows you to make strategic business decisions with numbers and data to back it up. Not sure if you should increase your prices? Well, look at how much time you’re spending per client or per sale. Thinking about outsourcing this year? Look at your tracked time to know exactly how much time you spend on certain tasks. This is one of the most underrated things you can do for your business but it’s a wealth of insights.
